      The young mezzo-soprano Jana Sykorova has been acclaimed as one of today’s most outstanding Czech singers. She had her successful debut with the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden in London as Maddalena in July 2007 under the baton of Renato Palumbo and she shall perform the same role with the Nice Opera with conductor Marco Guidarini during October – November 2007 as well. She shall return to London for Mercedes /cover Carmen, conductor Daniel Oren, in March – April 2008.
sykorova2.jpg      As a principal soloist with the Prague State Opera since 1999 her performances have included the title roles in Bizet\'s “Carmen” and Vivaldi\'s “Orlando Furioso” as well as important mezzo /alto roles like Fenena, Maddalena, Ulrica, Suzuki, La Cieca, Olga, Ursule, Orlowsky and others. Her opera performances have included Grimgerde in Wagner\'s “Die Walküre” at the Wells Festival in Austria, too. 
      Included among the many other roles Jana Sykorova has performed with the Prague State Opera are title roles in world premieres of works by the Czech contemporary composer (and renowned jazz pianist) Emil Viklicky, the opera “Faidra” and the opera-oratorio "The Ploughman and the Death".  sykorova3.jpgAlso, in 2002 she sang the title role in the world premiere of the opera “Joseph Merrick dit Elephant Man” by French contemporary composer (and renowned film music maker) Laurent Petitgirard in Prague. Her performance in the follow-on French premiere of the "Elephant Man" with the Nice Opera won acclaim of international critics as well as the DVD released later on the Marco Polo label (see Forum Opera).
sykorova1.jpg     Also, since 2002 Jana Sykorova is a permanent guest soloist of the Prague National Theatre Opera having succeeded Dagmar Peckova as Carmen and having had her debut as Donna Elvira in Mozart\'s „Don Giovanni“ (at the Theatre of the Estates), as Kate in „Kate and the Devil“ by Dvorak and as Panna Roza in „The Secret“ by Smetana (2006).
       Ms Jana Sykorova regularly performs recitals of Lieder as well as repertoire from cantatas and oratorios. She appeared as a concert partner with tenor Peter Dvorsky and performed operatic recitals in Poland and Denmark. Prior to take maternity leave in 2004 Jana Sykorova, who opened the Czech Philharmonic concert season with Janacek\'s "Glagolitic Mass" in a quartet featuring Gabriela Benackova, performed Martinu’s “Nipponari” in Glasgow, Dvorak’s "Requiem" at the Trondheim Festival in Norway, Dvorak\'s "Stabat Mater" at the Vatican Festival in Rome and Pisa. She was also featured in the same works at Tokyo Suntory Hall and Tokyo City Opera. In addition to the Czech Philharmonic, she regularly appears as a soloist with the Prague Symphony Orchestra (2006 Händel\'s /Mozart\'s “Messiah”) and with the Czech Broadcasting Orchestra (2006 Dvorak’s “Stabat Mater”). During the last year, Jana Sykorova also performed a.o. „Alto Rhapsody“ (Brahms), „El Amor Brujo“ (de Falla), „Marie-Magdeleine“ (Massenet), “Ninth Symphony” (Beethoven) with the Czech Philharmonic in Prague and Wiesbaden, the world premiere of Josef Marek\'s cantate "In Spe" for alto and orchestra, and she appeared in „Le Martyre de Saint Sébastien“ (Debussy) under the baton of Serge Baudo.
In September 2007, Jana Sykorova performed her first Anitra of Grieg’s „Peer Gynt“ series with the Prague State Opera, Wagner’s „Wesendonk Lieder“ on piano recital and “Stabat Mater” by Vanhal, a Czech contemporary to Mozart, in the framework of the St. Venceslas Festival of Sacred Music which has been recorded by the Czech Broadcasting Authority. In November 2007, she will perform a Dvorak\'s “Stabat Mater” solemn series with Brno Janacek Opera to inaugurate Janacek Opera\'s new chief, conductor Tomas Hanus.
Jana Sykorova has recorded the unknown opera “The stubborn lovers” by Dvorak on CD for the Supraphon label under the baton of renowned Czech conductor Jiri Belohlavek. She has also recorded Massenet´s oratorio “Marie-Magdeleine” and song cycles of Czech contemporary composers for the Czech Broadcasting Authority. Jana Sykorova has recorded Viklicky´s “Faidra” and “The Ploughman and the Death” and Vivaldi´s “Orlando furioso” with the Prague State Opera and “Kate and the Devil” by Dvorak with the Prague National Theatre. Her performance as “Joseph Merrick dit Elephant Man”, LIVE from the French premiere of Nice in December 2002 shall release as DVD soon. (See Jana Sykorova´s list of records.)

Jana Sykorova studied singing at the Prague Conservatory of Music with Brigita Sulcova. She participated at master classes with Eva Randova (Stuttgart) and Mikhail Tomashov (Sofia). She worked on Baroque music with Jiri Kotouc.
